This track is a masterpiece. A staple in Matt Darey’s sets, for instance. In 2005 Ultra Records released a compilation commemorating that year’s winter music festival. It had Breezer, as well as an edit of this with more vocals (an extra verse, I guess). When I found the 12", I missed those vocals and would often splice them together. It deserves a re-release with those extra vocals, and maybe with a club edit with 32 bars in and out. 🙏🏼

Tom, the entire reason I even watched Mad Max Fury Road at all was to hear your music in the context of the movie. I was blown away by how well the film was made overall. I’m really looking forward to this one as well. I’m still constantly shocked that you went from Saturday Teenage Kick, which is an AWESOME album btw, to scoring several extremely high quality Hollywood films. Your creativity and musical palette is next level brother!

I would love to get a Studio Tour update but not about the gear, but specifically about the computers, to know which setup you’re running now, how many VEP servers you’re running, etc… because there’s a lot of improvements in computers and I wonder if it helped to shrink down the number of servers or if you simply just kept the same amount of servers and increased your overall memory/storage… I know that’s pretty geeky, but that’s stuff inspiring composers love to know too :)

This is one reason why I’m not into hardware anymore… because I always feel limited in sound exploration. So yeah, we can use modular, but then comes the problem of efficient, quick recall, etc… That’s why now I’m more interested into software, easy to save & recall and it’s pretty much limitless for sound exploration, you can easily stack layers of multiple plugins, use your old favorite synths one minute and then explore a full blown modular the next minute… The only real missing right now is a proper keyboard controller. Don’t get wrong, there are already nice controllers, but I would want something that goes even beyond in terms of tactile experience, hardware-software interaction and control. I like where NKS is heading, I like that we find more and more MPE controllers, more polyphonic aftertouch, I just wish for something like a NI Keyboard Kontrol mk3 with faders, pads, touchscreen, something that would look like a workstation and synth put together, but used only to control my favorite libraries and virtual synths… We’re not too far from it, and it’s the only missing piece in my perfect setup. Of course, YMMV, to each his own… for me, software has been the solution for my hardware sound exploration problem.

Hey Tom, if you can’t have a real full stack tube amp, you might be interested in something like a BlackWidow MGP-1A, it’s a tube preamp with real tubes, full analog path that can model hundreds of amps, it’s a 2U Rack (so it would fit well your wall here). I heard the Power amp section will come later, but you can still use any of the tube power amp such Marshall 50:50 or such. And/or then you could simply use a loadbox like UA Ox Box and go straight in Cubase and use an IR Cab. By doing so, you would have real tube preamp and amp, real analog effect (obviously) and you would have a system that can run quietly. (I’m building a system like that for myself, I have no personal gain from my recommandations here, I’m just mention them because they’re great products and some such the BlackWidow are not well known, but they’re absolutely fantastic… My 2¢

It's quite possible, that in the next few months of 2024 people who listen to what they believe to be original electronic music are going to come to the realisation that what they're actually listening too and even purchasing has been 100% created by AI. They will start to feel cheated that who they thought was a human music creator using their own creativity and human experience, may have just typed in an AI text box. "create a 125bpm EDM track with exciting builds and drops etc, etc, etc". I've been making music since 1982, first using a 4 track tape machine, a mono synth and drum machine. Thinking back it was fun to create songs using a limited setup, however like an early AI the Roland 808 drum machine 100% created the drum track. In 2024 I create music using an Apple Mac Studio running Logic Pro. As of tomorrow 13th May Logic will be updated with a lot of advanced AI features including a piano and bass AI accompaniment that will help you compose a song as well as being able to go through any song and individually split the instruments out like the vocal track or the whole drum section. These are great tools for a hobbyist, weekend music maker, and I'm coming to the stark realisation that the human element is diminishing in music as a whole. "WHAT IS REAL"
